You may now kiss...my mom!!

I found a box on Pinterest that said this and just thought it was soooo darn cute! I had to make another sign for Connor to hold up when the preacher says 'you may now kiss the bride.'

I used the same technique for this sign as I did for the here comes the bride sign.  

Here Comes The Bride

I am in love with this sign! Andy & Kylie cut the wood for me into the heart shape and then I burned it.  I will show you below how I did this. 

Here is Kylie modeling the heart. 

First I made myself a stencil on my handy silhouette using contact paper. It's the same template I used to draw the heart on the wood for Andy to cut it.  I used the outer lining to trace the heart leaving what you see below for me to trace my letters how I wanted them. 

Since I cut the letters inside the heart (to save time and $ of course), I was able to line it up just how I wanted it very easily! See the painters tape? Again, saving time and precious $$$ I used a minimal amount of painters tape to help transfer the letter correctly. There is no need to use it on more of the heart since it is so big. Make sure you smooth over the image either with a firm hand or your scraper. Then it's time to lift the tape off. 

If the contact paper pulls up with the tape just put it back down and press again. It will stay down. 

After I removed the tape I put it back on the backing from the contact paper. Again saving $$ to use it on another small project. 

After the tape was removed I just used a pencil to trace the letters.  Then start burning away!

Irish Wedding Blessing

This is my favorite sign I've made so far for my wedding! Very popular on Pinterest as well! My future father in law made the sign for me to stencil out of the flooring from the old church on the family farm! It's so beautiful!! I used my silhouette to cut out the stencil for this using contact paper. 

Burlap Wreath

I am making 4 normal sized wreaths and 2 giant wreaths for our wedding. Here is one of the normal sized wreaths I am making. 

Below I will show you how I made these. They are VERY time consuming but so beautiful!!

First, you need to make a shopping trip to the Dollar Tree and Hobby Lobby for the following:

Pool noodle or wreath form

Duct tape

Floral pins

About 2.5-3 yards of burlap

Sharp scissors

Tape measure

Next, you will make your wreath form out of the pool noodle by joining the two ends and securing with duct tape. I found out that the duct tape can slide off of the noodle so you want to do a couple layers going out from the part where it's connected to give it some stability.

Next you are going to get your burlap ready. You may want to cut a section and pin them in the wreath and then cut some more to give yourself a break. You want to cut the burlap in 4 inch squares. They don't have to be perfect either! I think some of mine were rectangles but it will all work out and still look amazing.

Next, you will fold it in half on the corners making it a triangle. 

Then, you will fold in one of the top corners in front.

 

And the other corner behind.

After you have it folded put your floral pin into the burlap then stick it into your wreath form. I started on the inside of the wreath as a guideline and worked my way out a row at a time.

Make sure you leave the back uncovered so it sits against your door or wall nicely. 

After I was done with the front I wanted to cover the back. You don't have to do this if it won't be seen but we are hanging thes on posts for our wedding and I didn't want the back to stand out. I used some burlap strips I cut and just hot glued them to the back.

Added some ribbon flowers and voila!

So, I decided to get me some freezer paper and try to use it as a stencil for my burlap sign and it worked out great! A few things I will need to tweak though! I don't like how the warm wishes seems to run together? Not sure how that happened?! Also I used my handy dandy silhouette cameo to cut the freezer paper and I am going to experiment with this. It did not cut well at all! I looked at several tutorials and cut with the shiny side down blade on 3, speed1, and thickness of 17 which is the best I could get it to cut when testing. Next time I will try cutting with the shiny side up like a couple other bloggers suggested and see what happens! But overall I am pleased with the result!!! 

I was making some ribbon flowers and l thought the sign needed something more. This was perfect! Tutorial on how to make the flowers coming soon!!

Burlap sign FAIL!!

 

So, I decided to go against my gut feeling and try to use what I typically use for my stencils (contact paper) and failed!! Next I WILL be using freezer paper and will post the results!

I'm a blogger! Now what?

So, today while at work I had this amazing idea! I'm gonna start a blog! No idea how or what I'm going to post first but I want to share my adventures in crafting with the world! It's my passion and I know if I help just one person with my ideas it will make me happy! So, here we go!!!
